Tell it like it is 

“A little that a righteous man has is better….” – Psalms 37:16

We got ready with the marriage bio-data of my daughter to find a god-fearing life partner for her. We gave her bio-data to a known person. As soon as he received the biodata, he put forth a question. He wanted to know how many sovereigns of gold we would offer for our daughter. We could not give any reply. Being a servant of God, we did not have much savings in our hands. We were frustrated. That very same day I went to church and began to pray. I poured my heart out to God with tears. I shared my deepest feelings and described the true situation listing a few things I had for the marriage. I asked God how it was possible to hold my daughter’s marriage with a few things. Then I read that day’s Scripture portion. The Lord comforted me with the following verse “A little that a righteous man has is better than the riches of many wicked” (Psalms 37:16) I waited upon God with faith. Almighty God blessed us with a god-fearing son-in-law who is doing ministry along with his job. 

We read in II Kings 4th chapter about the family of the prophet who was in debt. When asked, the widow told Elisha that she had nothing in the house but a jar of oil. She stated her present condition frankly. Her deficiency had become surplus. 

Dear brother and sister, our God is speaking to us. Are we in dismay not knowing what to do for daughter’s marriage, son’s college fees or for the completion of the construction work of the house? Are we tearful when denied help from the people on whom we pinned our hope? Just like the wife of the prophet who spoke just as the matter was to Elisha, let us take our matter to the Lord God the creator of heaven and earth. Our God is all powerful to multiply the very little things and meagre amount we own, into abundance with His blessings.
