Losing for the sake of Gospel

"…but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it" - Mark 8:35

In the 17th century, there was a law in England that prohibited preaching Christianity. Despite this, a preacher named 'John Hackett' was preaching in church. After a while, a soldier came to the pulpit with a gun in his hand and stood right in front of it. He looked at the preacher and said, "I order you to stop preaching." The preacher looked at him and said, "I am doing my job as a servant of God; you do your job as a soldier," and continued his sermon. The soldier, who also aimed to shoot the preacher, suddenly grabbed the gun he had raised and ran out of the church. What was the reason? The Lord knows.

The Bible says, “Because he delights in me, I will deliver him; ... I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him.” (Psalm 91:14, 15) When God asked Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham was willing to give up his only son, the one he had raised with love and affection, and the one who would become the ruler of all his possessions. The Lord God saw Abraham’s heart. He saw his love for him. He remembered his servant’s willingness to give up his only son because of his love for him and gave Isaac back to Abraham. "He also received him from the dead as a model," says Hebrews 11:19.

Child of God who reads this! Think about it. Have we lost anything for God, for the sake of winning souls, or for the sake of preaching the gospel? Let us go forth boldly for the sake of the gospel. How many have received insults and words? How many have received blows and kicks? If we have received them, how blessed we are! The Lord will restore what we have lost. We will receive a hundredfold blessings in this world, even with suffering, and eternal life in the hereafter. Alleluia!
