Judas? Peter?

"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you,…" - Acts 1:8

What happens when a pen doesn't fully surrender itself when we use it in our hand to write? If it say that I am a pen, I know everything, and I don't need anyone's help, we will surely laugh. Similarly we say I can do everything. If we say that we will preach and sing well, it will only make God laugh. Everything we do without the help of the Holy Spirit will have no benefit or good effect. Let's see it in the lives of two people.

They are the two disciples who were with Jesus Christ when he lived in this world. One was Peter and the other was Judas Iscariot. Both were the ones who emotionally hurt Jesus on his way to the cross. Judas betrayed him for thirty pieces of silver. Peter denies Jesus three times while being tortured. How do you know? He cursed and swore that he did not know Jesus.

Which of these two disciples seems to have done the bigger mistake? Peter did not take the decision of his own life as Judas did. Instead, repented, cried and agreed. (Luke 22:62) Peter stood as a witness by proclaiming Jesus among the people before whom he denied Jesus. Did he do all this by his own strength? No, realizing that he could no longer do anything with his own strength and zeal, he completely surrendered himself to the rule of the Holy Spirit and stood as a witness to God with the power of God.

My dear brothers and sisters! Just as a pen in our hands surrenders itself completely and is useful to us and others, we should surrender our lives to God with the help of the Holy Spirit. Then we will receive power and proclaim the name of Jesus Christ and also live as a witness to Him.
