Christ? Barabasa?
"Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him" - 1 John 2:15
A sister’s husband served in the military. Once on leave he invited her to party and asked to drink with the wives of other officers. The sister knew Christ and was in a position to decide, Christ? or Husband? The struggle! Finally came to a conclusion. The Lord says obey your husband in Christ. But she decided that it is better to obey God than to obey her husband in a matter that is not pleasing God and she refused to go and drink with such people. She also shed tears and prayed for her husband every day. God changed the heart of the husband.
Similarly in Scripture, in the four Gospels, Pilate gives a choice to the Jewish people to decide, "Christ? Or Barabbas?" But the Jewish people chose Barabbas instead of Christ. Even though Pilate said that “I saw no crime in him,” the people knew Barabas. He was murderous and rebellious. But they choose him. Similarly, when the people of Israel were serving the gods of the Asherah, Elijah said to the people, " How long will you waver between two opinions? Lord? or Baal? Whom will you follow?" (1Ki. 18:21) Similarly, many Christians today go to church once in a week under the name Christian. And when they join with their friends, they attend to the affairs of the world with them . I can't leave my best friend. They agree with the world and world affairs by saying that they cannot deny it to a close friend.
Children of God! Christ? Or your friends? Make a clear decision when it comes to Because we see in 1 John 2:16 that the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life are not of the Father, but of the world. One should hate the world and the things in the world. When you live like this, don't be discouraged if you are hated, shunned, or ostracized by people. Then think of Christ who suffered like us. He was neglected by the people who had received the blessing from him. When you stand up for Christ no matter who hates and shuns you, Christ will judge you as a righteous. Amen.
