Proud

 

"God resists the proud,..." - James 4:6

 

A ship named Titanic was built by the White Star Line company with all the safety and colossal cost. It was praised for its ability to break even large glaciers and its ability to handle all weather conditions. In front of 2224 wealthy passengers, the ship's founder said, "Even God can't destroy this ship" as it was about to depart! But on her maiden voyage, on April 15, 1912, she sank in the North Atlantic. 1500 people died in that accident. The reason was that only the front part of the ship was equipped with an icebreaker. But an iceberg hit the side of the ship and the ship broke in two. Where is the pride of the company that designed it?

 

In the book of Genesis in the scriptures they said come let us build a tower and make a name for ourselves. To break their pride by the tower they had built, the Lord perverted their actions. They wanted to increase their name exposure and establish it. But in the eyes of the Lord, it was wrong.

 

Beloved! God opposes the proud. This is the only thing God is against. Humility is the opposite of pride. Let us be humble like Jesus every day. Everything we have is made available to us by God's grace. We have no right to be proud of anything. The scriptures thus warn each of us, "Do not say in your heart that my righteousness and my strength of hand have earned me this wealth." (Deuteronomy 8:17) Yes, our lives belong to Him. So, can we be proud of what we have done? So, let's give thanks for all the blessings we get and get rid of pride.
