Leave this inheritance

 

"just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,.." - Matthew 20:28

 

A great official died suddenly. His loss was devastating to his family and colleagues. His funeral was packed with friends and family. Because he touched the lives of many people with his unique personality. People could not forget his love, humor and interest in the common people. A godly man named Muller said, "You can bury a man, but not his character. Yes, good character can be inherited."

 

In the Bible, 2 Chronicles 21 describes the “short reign of a king named Jehoram”. He killed all his brothers to hold his power. He led people to idolatry. A warning came to him that the prophet Elijah had written about his evil deeds. But without repentance, the scriptures say, "King Jehoram died without anyone to love him." He thought that his position and power would save him from generation to generation. But the scriptures record over and over again that King Jehoram was a wicked man and selfish.

 

Beloved! Even though Jesus Christ is the King, he did not come to this world to be served but to serve. As he roamed about as a doer of good, he encountered the hatred of those who held power. He did not come to rule and exercise power and make his name known to the world, he came to give his life for us. So even today Jesus Christ is a great asset for us.

 

Beloved! Shall we also live with the understanding that "our life is not ours", let us embrace all who come to us following Jesus Christ. Let us live with Christian character, thus living for God and leaving this inheritance! Alleluia!
