A short story for adults

 

"…he will be a vessel for honour, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work" – 2 Timothy 2:21

 

A man kept three things in his house. One axe, two knife, three blade. One morning the man was getting ready to cut wood. Then these three objects speak. The axe said, "Now the master will use me." Similarly the knife and blade said "No, no he will use me". The man took the axe and left. He came home after cutting the tree. Axe was proud of himself and thought little of the other two. In no time the man was washing the fruits to eat them. Then they started a competition that he would use me by those three items. But he took a knife and cut the fruit and ate it. After a while he was ready to shave. Even then all three competed. He took the blade and finished saving. Give it some thought. Can you cut fruit with an axe? Can you shave with a knife? Can a blade cut wood? That means there is no deficiency in the work of the three objects. There is nothing wrong with the master. But all three things are wrong to compare themselves and their work with others!

 

Paul writes something like this when he writes to Timothy. A house does not contain only gold and silver utensils. There are wooden and earthen vessels and each is used accordingly. Yes, it makes no sense to compare each of them with the others.

 

Friends reading this! Don't compare yourself with others. Many times we compare ourselves with others and lose our advantages. This is where we fail. God has given everyone a special talent. "Work, don't compare". You must be ready to do good, and do not be weary of comparing yourself with others. If you surrender yourself to God, He is able to use you.
