Search 

 

"…seek, and you will find;…" - Matthew 7:7

 

All of us living in this world are searching for something in one way or another. Parents look for good educational institutions for their children when they are young. Looking for companies for job after graduation. Some are looking for a career that will be a blessing for the future. As we age we look for the best hospitals for our physical health. Our search continues as long as we live in this world. In the Sermon on the Mount, Lord says “what should we look for?” Let's think about what he says when you seek you will find.

 

Seek God: (Proverbs 8:17)

First seek God. We can seek the Lord in two ways. The first is prayer. Daniel seeks the Lord through prayer in Daniel 9:3. The second scripture. Search and read in the book of the Lord Isaiah 34:16. We should be those who search in the scriptures for what our Lord is like, His qualities and ways.

 

To seek the Father's will: (John 5:30)

Are we doing things in life to fulfil our desires? Or we should think whether we know the Father's will and act accordingly.

 

Seek souls: (Luke 19:10)

We must seek out people who are losing their salvation because of sin and proclaim the love of Jesus to them. Such people may be on your streets, where you work, or in the colleges you study. Are we looking for such people?

 

Seek the things above: (Colossians 3:1,2)

We should be the ones who are looking for higher things that can bring us to heaven rather than looking for the gains that can be made by deceiving others, telling lies, or putting others down.

 

Beloved! If we live as those who seek the Lord Jesus Christ for worldly blessings or self-interest, our situation is pitiful! God will give us blessings as we seek His will.
