Turn the other cheek
"…Do not say, I will do to him just as he has done to me;…” - Proverbs 24:29
A football player who did part-time ministry called Campus Crusade. This young man was once handing out tracts explaining the gospel of Christ. A young man who received the copy he gave, threw it away and spat in his face in disgust. He said, "I see your Jesus in the same way." Naturally, footballers' bodies are very strong. But this warrior did not show his strength to him, but endured it for Jesus and wiped it with his handkerchief. And God intervened in the hearts of many students who were watching this. And the person who spat on the football player was saved after a year and did ministry with the football player.
The Sermon on the Mount, delivered by the Lord Jesus Christ during His days on earth, is very famous. Chapters Matthew 5, 6, 7, which can be called the Sermon on the Mount, are memorized and followed by many. Even non-Christians use this Sermon on the Mount as an example in their sermons. What Jesus said was, I tell you do not repay evil; If someone slaps you on the right cheek, give him the other cheek too!
Beloved! Many may dishonour us for Christ's sake before many. We should show the other cheek to those who oppress us without striking back. It takes more strength to tolerate than to repay. God will give us that strength. If we ask that continuing to follow God will strengthen us to turn the other cheek to whoever hurts us, we will also receive strength. Let's become disciples who follow the Lord! God will lift us up according to His plan.
