All that is required is one thing

 

"But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her" - Luke 10:42

 

A father worked in the US. His family was in Tamil Nadu. The father, who had come home for the holidays, had bought many things for his only son. He took it one by one and gave his son and told how hard he had bought it all for him. Son was not interested in those things. He was looking at his father's face with sadness. Hugging his son, he inquired. Dad I don't want all these things. You're the one I want. It is true that you bought these with love, but I do not long for them, you must be with me. I want you to drop me in the school, I want to sit on your lap and do homework and play with you. That is my wish, he said.

 

This can be compared to an incident in the Scripture. Jesus Christ came to the house of two sisters named Martha and Mary in Bethany. Martha was doing household jobs. It was Mary's desire to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to His word and talk with Him. But Martha is exhausted by working alone and goes to Jesus lamenting that she is alone and working hard. Mattha you worry about many things. Jesus said that Mary knew that there was only one thing needed.

 

Beloved in Christ! A son living in the world expects his father's love no matter how many things his father buys. Like this, do you know what the Lord who created you and me expects? We have to seek him always. No matter how much we give, help others, serve, we should sit with Him. Time must be spent. Yes, we should wait at his feet. May we attain peace and happiness.
