Who are you?
"Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life" - Jude 21
The Parable of the Prodigal Son is very famous in the Bible where God’s heart and love is explained. By this parable Spirit has interposed with many individuals and changed them in many ways. Will we open your hearts today to hear God’s voice?
A father had two sons. The younger son came to his father and asked, "Divide my share in the property." The eldest son was doing whatever his father told him to do. The moment the younger son got everything he wanted, he left his father and went to a distant land. He does not seem to love his father. He was selfish to get what he could and left. Many of us are like this today. What can I receive from God? That is why we go to church for self-gain and blessings.
We may think that the elder is better than the younger. If you look at his mood, he also seems to be wrong. Jealousy flared up on his father as he could not partake in the feast prepared by his father for his repentant younger brother. He gets angry at the honour his degenerate brother gets. To the father he asked, "Have you ever done anything like this to me, who has obeyed you for so many years?". Many of us today have this mindset. We envy the undeserving when they benefit. I have not received anything that deserves but the other is blessed beyond what they deserve compared to others! We are the ones who complain.
Beloved! Let us leave these two mind-sets and try to live with the heart of the Father. The love of a father who forgives the faults of his children and accepts them and loves them without any expectations is special. He runs to face the younger son who left him and hugs him. He comes out in search of the elder who was standing outside in anger and says to come and take part. Wow! What love! Even today, in the family and in the ministry, there are two groups of people with the mentality of the elder and the mentality of the younger. Let us love them with the heart of the Father and live as a reflection of Jesus Christ.
