Don't haste

 

"…Whoever believes will not act hastily" - Isaiah 28:16

 

A pilot, a school student and a pastor three people boarded on the jet. The plane broke down mid-air due to engine failure. The pilot informed the other two people of the situation, knowing that they were about to face a major accident. Also said that the plane has only two parachutes. But while the pilot was saying that there are three of us here, the pastor quickly took one and jumped down from the plane.

 

Unexpectedly, the pilot looked at the student and said, "It's okay brother, there is another parachute. Take it and survive. You are young, you have to live." Hearing this, the student said, "No sir, we both can survive." "How does that fit? We only have one parachute." Asked the pilot. The student said without any hesitation, "The pastor picked up my school bag instead of the parachute at haste of jumping and quickly jumped down. So, we both have a parachute."

 

Although the incident read above may sound funny, many of us today find ourselves in a hurry. If we do not have faith and patience in the Christian life, our journey is sure to be hindered. While reading today's scripture, even though Jesus was in their boat, the disciples cried out, "Alas, we are perishing." We read that Jesus rebukes their unbelief. The Bible tells us that it is impossible to please God without faith, and be careful that there is no unbelief heart in any of you (Hebrews 11:6, 3:12). So let everyone who reads this be firm in faith. May God guide you!
