Maturity

 

"…when I became a man, I put away childish things" - 1 Corinthians 13:11

 

We willingly buy a mango tree, plant it in our house and take care of it thoughtfully. We will do everything for it like, watering it and adding fertilizer at the right time regularly and expect good growth. How happy we will be if the same sapling grows into a mango tree and starts bearing fruit. Every day's growth is very important. In the same way, the Lord expects us as those born in Christ to grow every day. Meaning , in spiritual life, reading scriptures, doing good deeds, good relationship with God, regular prayer life, and on and on. Let us think, what is the sign of the maturity in a spiritually developed man like this?

 

1) They have the attitude of giving up to others. Although Jonathan was King Saul's own son, he says to David whom he loved “You be king and I wil be next to you”. We see Jonathan giving up, saying I will be next to you.

 

2) They will give up the responsibility, position and primary position they are holding and come forward to serve in a lower position. They consider everyone else superior to themselves. The uneducated, the poor, the unsaved, they regard them as superior to themselves and treat them with respect and befriend them.

 

3) Thought of service to everyone: The Lord Jesus washed the feet of His disciples. People who have this kind of attitude do not have any sense of pride about themselves, so they go ahead to honour others without any hindrance.

 

Dear people who are reading this, according to the old Tamil proverb

  "The half filled pot will spill, the filled pot will not spill" and those who do not grow in spiritual life will become frustrated in small things like the half filled pot. You can always hear them murmuring like a tinkling cymbal. Spiritually mature people are filled with God's love and are always patient. What is your status?
