Potatoes and plastic bags
"…tender-hearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you" - Ephesians 4:32
Hello kids, how are you? are you ok Do you go to school every day? Oh children, what games do you like? You usually play with your friends in your school, on your street.
Like you, Rhea went to the school which had a big playground. All the students there were happily talking, laughing, and playing together. As days passesd, they started fighting and splitting into separate groups. It was very difficult for the teachers there. The teacher, who wanted to bring them all together, called everyone and said that when you come to school tomorrow, you should bring a sack of potatoes and a plastic cover. The students brought it as instructed.
Now the teacher looked at them and said, write the names of those whom you quarrel with and whom you refuse to forgive on these potatoes and put them in this plastic bag. Students also took time thought and wrote. The potatoes in the sack reduced. Plastic bag was full. Now take the potato with the name of whomever you want to forgive and put it outside. Otherwise, he said, he would have to carry this potato wrapper every day to home and then to school. Unforgiving students used to carry the plastic bag to and from school. In a few days, the potatoes rotted and smelled. No one came to the student having the bag. And everyone saw them and started moving away. Seeing this, the students threw away the smelly plastic bag with potatoes and forgave everyone and played peacefully as before.
Dear brother and sister, if we don't forgive others, if we continue to harbor many sins like resentment, enmity, and anger towards them, it will spoil our life. So, you must change, just as Jesus forgave those who beat him, those who insulted him and those who betrayed him even when he was hanging on the cross. This is what Jesus expects from you. So, will you fulfil the expectations of Jesus and make him happy?
