How do you raise a child?

 

"Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” - Proverbs 22:6

 

A man know to me has been making bold mistakes since his childhood. His parents did not control instead covered up their son's mistake. Those who come to point out his mistake, they said “My son will not do such a thing”. This caused him to make many daring mistakes in his later days. He spends more days in prison than in his hometown. This is still an ongoing story. Due to this, not only his wife, children but also his parents, siblings and relatives are subjected to many kinds of sufferings and pains.

 

Both Ophni and Phinehas, sons of Eli, the high priest in the Holy Bible, Now the sons of Eli were corrupt; they did not know the LORD. (1 Sam. 2:12) Eli, who taught others that this is right and this is wrong, if they sin like this, will receive punishment, sickness and curses etc. He could not lead his children on the right path. The children who were to become the next high priests did many things that displeased the Lord at the door of the tabernacle. Because of this they were subjected to the wrath of the Lord. Not only that but both of them died on the same day when they were young, but these curses continued for posterity. Perhaps the survivor has to beg the other priest for a loaf of bread and money to join him in the priestly ministry! The reason for all these sufferings is that Eli, the priest, did not bring up his children properly!

 

Dear parents! When so many couples yearn for children, how do we raise the free gift God has given us? What are the reasons why so many children are still trapped in mobile phones, alcohol addiction, magic webs of love, adultery, prostitution and immoral activities? The Holy Bible says, "A child left to its own devices brings shame to its mother." Parents reading this, how are you raising your children?
