The fruit of effort

 

"Now he who plants, and he who waters are one, and each one will receive his own reward according to his own labor" - 1 Cor. 3:8

 

A woman was very interested in growing flower plants. She grew a rare flower plant in her garden. She took care of it well by watering it every day. The flower plant grew rapidly and spread like a vine on the wall. The woman who expected flowers to bloom on that plant was disappointed. She did not find any flower on the plant and felt her efforts were vain. One day another woman living on the other side of the garden wall praised the plant. The woman who grew the plant asked, “Why you are praising that plant which is without flowers?” Who said it doesn't bloom? Come to the other side of the wall, said the woman next door. On the other side, truly when the lady saw the beauty of the blooming flowers, she felt happy and said, "My efforts are not in vain."

 

Similarly, Ruth left her race and people to strive for the Lord. At first her decision may have seemed fruitless. But in the end she received the trinity of Jesus Christ as a result. Mary of Bethany bought expensive ointment with the money she had saved for months and poured it on Jesus' feet. From the human point of view, it was a waste of money. But as a result of that effort, her work is remembered all over the world today.

 

Yes, dear ones! Your efforts for the Lord may seem fruitless in your eyes. But don't forget that it is paying off in ways you don't even know about. Don't get tired and keep doing your work with full effort. The Lord Himself is able to give you the fruits of all your efforts. Amen!
