Being thankful.

 

"…be thankful" - Colo. 3:15

 

A man who had retired from government service sat at the feet of God on the final days of the year and contemplated the events of that year. I had heart surgery this year and retired from a good job. My son, who is studying medicine, met with an accident and the car was completely damaged. My son also got minor injuries. He wrote this year down as the worst year ever and slept on his bed. After some time his wife saw the paper. Then she went to her private room and started praying. "Lord, thank you for helping my busy husband to rest and live in peace! Thank you for the days of life you gave to my husband when he had a major operation for heart disease! Thank you for protecting my son from the accident!" His wife thanked God with tears. Whose disposition would God be pleased ? Yes, a thankful heart!

 

Ten men came to Jesus for healing and cried out for mercy. Jesus gave them miraculous healing and said show yourselves to the priests. But one of them, seeing that he was well, returned and glorified God with a loud voice. Then Jesus asked “Was not the ten men healed? Where are the other nine?”

 

Beloved, our Lord has not saved us, called us, or anointed us, expecting anything from us. But he expects only one thing. To live with grateful heart. That is it. How many benefits has he done for us and our family! How many! But we often forget the good things the Lord has done and grumble about Him. If we think that Jesus keeps us alive on this earth every day, we can't grumble but thank God. It's true. We will also be seen as giving thanks to God. Let us inherit the blessings of God.
