Sacrifice or Chance?

 

"Or who has first given to him and it shall be repaid to him?" - Romans 11:35

 

In the Christian fellowship, offering to the Lord is called a sacrificial offering. If a young man goes as a missionary, the church people will say, "He has sacrificed his life to God." If one donates to poor, it is said that he is giving sacrificially. On this day, we will meditate on what Missionary David Livingstone said about such sacrifices.

 

A journalist named Stanley came from England to visit David Livingston in his old age, who served as a martyr in Africa for many years. While talking about many things, he said that the people of England have a high respect on Livingstone's ministry. Then invited Livingston to accompany him to England on the ship he was about to start. If you miss thus chance you wont get anymore, Stanley also said that it will be very difficult for Livingstone to come to England hereafter. But Livingston refused and stayed in Africa. Livingston wrote a similar note in his diary the day after Stanley's departure. "People talk about the fact that I spent a large part of my life as a missionary in Africa as a great sacrifice. Is it a sacrifice or chance to repay a small part of the debt we owe to God? Is it a sacrifice to do something that gives satisfaction to ou soul? Is it a sacrifice to do a work that will lead us to the purpose of life, eternity? No, no, not at all! "Let's throw away the word Sacrifice. Let's consider it as chance or privilege. Our sacrifice is nothing before the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who renounced his seat at the right hand of the glorious Father and came down to earth for us. I have made no sacrifice."

 

Beloved! How do we see the things we do for the Lord? What kind of thinking do we have about giving, serving, etc.? Do we think of them as gifts given to us by God or are we childishly thinking that we have done something for the whole world? Let this sublime Christian thought by David Livingston uplift your innermost thoughts.
