A seed on good ground
"a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always" - Acts. 10:2
Even though the seed is very small, when it is sown in the fields, it starts to germinate and grow. When a farmer sows seeds in his fields, he sows with joy in anticipation of a good harvest. When the crops are growing, he waters, fertilize it, remove all the weeds and watch the growth of the crop. If the seeds do not grow and dry up, or if they grow and fail to produce a proper harvest, the farmer will be discouraged.
In the scriptures, Jesus Christ taught the people by telling the parable of the sower. In Mark 4, chapters 3 to 8 we find the sower, the seed and the fields. Luke 8:11 refers to the seed that fell by the wayside, the seed that fell on the rock, the seed that fell on thorny places, and the seed that fell on good ground. The sower is the ploughman, or farmer. It refers to the servants who sow the verses to the people. The Bible clearly points out the people who are fruitful in these four types of soil because of Christ's teaching.
Many seeds fell in good soil bear fruit. Such as Cornelius! Cornelius is an example of how God meets anyone who seeks Him with an open heart and true piety, regardless of race. He was pious, God fearing and helped people in need. He was always praying to God. Cornelius, who obeyed God, gathered everyone in his family to hear God's message and led them to fear God. Even though he was an officer, he showed respect and humility towards God. A Gentile Roman, he and his household received the Holy Spirit and were immediately baptized. He was a witness to God because he was a seed that fell on good ground.
My people, let's straighten up a little and see in what soil we are living as fallen seeds. Can we benefit others with what we own? Let us try to give a good harvest for God in this new year so that we can benefit others. May the grace of God be with us! Amen!
