Blessed is she

 

"Most blessed of women be Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, most blessed of tent-dwelling women" - Judges 5:24

 

Blessed was Jael, a simple woman in the Old Testament who dwelt in a tent. She never went to war and fought. But what is the reason for saying so? Because the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the Lord, the Lord sold them into the hands of Jabin, the king of the Canaanites. He cruelly oppressed the children of Israel for 20 years. Then Deborah, a prophetess, came to inquire about the justice of Israel. The Lord sent Barak through Deborah to the children of Israel to fight with Sisera. She said that you will not gain superiority in this war, but the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman. Accordingly, Jael, the wife of Heber the Canaanite, killed Sisera with a tent peg.

 

How brave that Jael who was living in the tent! She singlehandedly killed Sisera, the greatest warrior. For her, it was a small task that could be completed in a matter of minutes. The Lord had done great things with her. After that we see that the country was at peace for forty years.

 

Yes, the Lord did great things with the simple woman Jael. So any small things done with God's help at the right time will bring great fruit and blessing. So the seed that we sow is small, but when it is sown in good soil, we can know that it will bear fruit thirty or sixty times a hundredfold. Likewise, the comforting words we say, the little prayers we say, bring the greatest results. We have heard of how many people who were running straight to suicide heard the gospel and got a change of heart and received the blessing and assurance of salvation!

 

My little prayer in my childhood was the words "Jesus save me." God heard the prayer that was said without even knowing its meaning and helped us to inherit the salvation that we had bought at such a high price at the right time. If we take one step, the Lord will take a hundred steps for us and accomplish the task. So let's do our best in this new year without getting tired. Let's sow the seed of evangelism on a small scale. Expect a great harvest; May the Lord himself give us a good share! Amen
