Star of Hope

 

"That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world" - John 1:9

 

In the Holy Bible, the 400 years between the Old Testament and the New Testament are said to be "dark years". After these dark years, the earthly history of Jesus Christ, who came as a light to mankind, begins. Let us meditate for a while from the scriptures on what those who knew the birth of Christ did that day.

 

King Herod: When he heard the news of Jesus' birth, he was troubled. He mistakenly understood that the king who had come to compete with him was born. But the birth of Christ is not to be feared. Rather, it was to eliminate fear. He acted as if he did not realize that this news was "good news" of great joy to all people, and that he was the savior of the world.

 

Wise men: The journey of the Wise men can be compared to a "journey of faith". They had a clear purpose. The purpose is to "obey the King". There was a goal attached to it. That goal is Christ! They sought, found, worshiped and gave offering. Is there purpose, goal, determination, humility in our life of faith? Does this worldly journey take us to king of kings? Are we moving forward with confidence?

 

Star: We can compare the star to the "Evangelist" who guided the wisemen. This star steadily led them to the right place. It helped them to see the Messiah who came as light to a dark world.

 

High Priest and Scribe: These gave the correct account of Christ's birth. But there was no intention of going to Bethlehem, which was near Jerusalem, to see the child. It is no use if we are only those who know and hear the words of life in the Holy Bible. It cannot bring any blessing in our life if we do not try to follow them.

 

Yes, dear ones! Let us dedicate ourselves today to live with determination in the flow of faith as those who proclaim the good news to people who are living in confusion!
