The guiding star

 

"…the star which they had seen in the East went before them, till it came and stood over where the young Child was" - Matthew 2:9

 

Christmas has come. There will be no dearth for celebrations. Star is the first place to decorate the house. Yes, everyone from kids to adults remembers the star. The excitement for Christmas comes only after buying a star and hanging it at home. There are various opinions about this. But today we will meditate on an important thing from the scriptures.

 

When we see in the 2nd chapter of Matthew, in those days when Jesus was born, the wisemen from the east came to Jerusalem and asked “where is the one who has been born as the king of the Jews?” They asked to King Herod. He didn't like this. He was disturbed that he was the king and they are talking about another king. We see that the city of Jerusalem was troubled with him. King Herod immediately makes a plan. He keeps evil thoughts in his heart and speaks falsely to the wisemen. He said, "If you go and find the child, tell me, I will come and worship it." The wisemen are leaving. But where to go? Which direction to go? There is no understanding. A word is written in the scriptures. The star they saw in the east went before them. So, they took the right path and went to the right place. After bowing down to Jesus and paying tribute, they returned to their country by a different route as directed by God.

 

Beloved, God showed that star to steer the wisemen away from all evil paths and in the right direction. Today we are running in life like those wisemen. There are many things in this world that lead us down the evil path and lead us down the path of delusion. But for us to walk on the right path, a precious treasure that God has given us is the "Holy Bible"! As Christians, if we read and meditate on the scriptures daily, it will show us the path to follow. If our young generation adheres to this, it is certain that they will not go down the wrong path.
