Lord who knows us

 

"for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” - Luke 19:10

 

The man we are going to look at today is Zacchaeus. He was the chief and rich of the tax collectors of the Jews. People hated him because he accumulated wealth unjustly. Seen as a sinful man. Zacchaeus, such a man, sought to see what Jesus was like. As he was a dwarf, he ran ahead of Jesus on the way and climbed a sycamore tree, forgetting his position, pride and status to see him. Zacchaeus is not used to climbing trees. But he ascended because of his desire to see Jesus Christ. When Jesus came to that place, he looked up at him and said, "Zacchaeus, come down quickly. I must stay at your house today."

 

Zacchaeus immediately came down from the tree and happily took him to his home. Jesus did not say to him, "Sell what you have." When Zacchaeus saw the Lord, he felt guilty. Not only does he receive forgiveness, but he demonstrates it in action.

 

Sin separates God and man. People around the world follow different ways to obtain forgiveness. People do not know that only through the blood of Jesus Christ is freedom from sin. What is sin? In Mark 7:20-23 we read that what comes from within a man defiles a man. Evil thoughts, fornication murder, theft, covetousness, hypocrisy, lechery, malice, blasphemy, pride, malice etc. proceed from within the heart of man. If we confess our sins and forsake them, He is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

 

Friends, if we too are living in sin, let us seek the Lord like Zacchaeus. He longs for forgiveness of sins and gets a new life. Let us declare to others the certainty of the forgiveness of sins that we have received. Hallelujah!
