A song of praise

 

"…Blessed be my Rock!..." - Psalm 18:46

 

A ship was carrying 2 retired war veterans. One was English and the other was German. English always sings a song taught to her by his mother when he was a child. The lyrics of the song are: "I know no refuge except the Almighty God. You are my hope, you will help me. You will cover the helpless poor with a blanket." A retired German war veteran who heard this song remembered hearing the same voice, the same song, during World War II. He immediately asked, were you a World War II veteran? he asked. When the Englishman said yes, he said, "I was in the German army against you, and because I accepted Christ, I let you go without firing when I heard you sing this song." Both praised the Lord with joy. See, a song has saved his life. So, if you ask whether hymns that praise God have that much power, then surely yes it is! An incident can be found even in the Bible.

 

King Jehoshaphat placed a choir in front of the battle. As they sang their praises, the Lord raised up the kings who came against them, one against the other, and they fell. The Lord gave victory. David was singing and praising. God gave the power to rescue the goat from the lion and the bear. defeated Goliath. The unclean spirit in Saul was cast out by his music.

 

Even today our saviour, who protects us, does not sleep, without sleeping he protects us in his bed. He is the God who protects us from the harm unseen. So let the praise of Him always be in our mouth. No matter what intimate family situation, whether in need or debt, sing praises like Paul Silas. Don't forget family prayer. Hallelujah miracles happen like prison doors opening by themselves
