A lamp to my feet

 

"Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path…" - Psalm 119:105

 

In the 19th century, the hero Napoleon Bonaparte conquered the entire continent of Europe. But he too was defeated in the battle of "Waterloo" and imprisoned on the island of "Helena". One of his friends who came to visit him once, gave him a chessboard. Napoleon played with it to relieve his emptiness. Then he fell ill and died. The items he used were auctioned off. The recipient looked eagerly back and forth found a small button in one corner of the chess board, and when he pressed it, a map emerged from within, indicating the way to escape from island. Napoleon had been using the chessboard for several days but he had not seen the map on it. If he had seen..!

 

It is written like this in Psalm 119:105 in the Holy Bible available in our hands. That your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. If so, God has given us His blueprint, the Bible, in our hands so that we can escape and gain eternal life.

 

Beloved, the book of scriptures is a great guide for any time, any age, to escape Satan's snare! Perhaps we too should read the scriptures even more even though we have many skilful experiences but are captivity in many stages of life. It is this scripture that is a good counsellor and guide for us in any situation and in many cases of confusion and indecisiveness. So let's take time and read the scriptures not only when we have time! But always! Let's enjoy our lives!
