Hard sugar candy

 

"…I am God Almighty; you walk before me, Be perfect” – Genesis 17:1

 

When I was a boy, traders would come to our town on bicycles, to collect old lead, tin and brass for dates, guavas, gummy candy and cotton candy. I would also like to buy hard sugar candy. Before tasting, I put it on and play with it by pulling it up and down forming circles, squares, rectangles as I see fit. And it will be an immense joy, because it forms shapes as my wish.

 

In the scriptures, the Lord appointed Saul as king who went looking for a donkey. But Saul thought that he could do whatever he wanted without realizing God as omnipotent. The word of the Lord came to Saul. "And now go and smite Amalek and destroy all that he has, and kill men, women, children, children, cattle, goats, camels, and donkeys without mercy." But Saul took Agag the king of the Amalekites alive, and spared the first and the second of the flocks and all that was good. He destroyed all things that were trivial and unhelpful. All that was righteousness in Saul's heart. He thought that the Lord would not notice all his action.

 

Many people today do this and our Lord will leave them alone. They will justify to themselves what is wrong with their actions. Rather Isaiah 64:6 "All our righteousnesses are as filthy rags" should be the sense. Beloved, whatever the Lord's Holy Bible says is righteousness, that is only righteousness. Whatever is called injustice is injustice. Nothing more than that.

 

So don't forget and don’t think that Almighty God can be dragged to suit us. You and I should be like the hard sugar candy in the hands of the Lord. We should be flexible to whatever way he pulls us through the verse. That is our blessing.
