Big fish

 

"…be content with such things as you have" - Hebrews 13:5

 

A man went fishing in a simple way with his small boat. That day a huge fish got caught in his net. But it was not possible to bring that big fish ashore with that small boat. Yet out of greed he tried to bring the big fish to the shore. It was so difficult that he tried for a long time and got tired. In the end, with no other choice, he left it in the sea with the net and came to the shore to survive the sea. He lost the few fish he usually catches that everyday.

 

Sometimes in life big desires and big dreams enter our heart and weigh us down. As we start desiring big things, the way to fulfill our small desires also gets blocked.

 

The devil entered Eve's heart with a great desire. She also accepted it. Her desire to become like God caused her to lose the high blessings God had for her.

 

In our well-functioning lives, the desire for money, materialism, fame and luxury enter the hearts of some people. They become burdens and usually deprive them of the good blessings they were enjoying.

 

In the Bible we read that the materialism that had crept into the heart of Gehazi caused him to lose his good condition and he also became a leper. Desires for promotions are not wrong. But let us be careful that they do not become masks of greed. May the Lord himself bless you!!
