Reconciliation
"Be of the same mind one toward another" - Romans 12:16
Once upon a time a woman often vented her bitterness towards her old, ailing mother. "Isn't it enough to eat so much? Does a dying grandmother have to bathe and change her dress every day?" Whenever she said that, the old mother was very distressed. One day the daughter was enlightened by the Spirit. As the Holy Spirit made her realize how her bitterness toward her mother would reflect back on her, she wanted to ask forgiveness from her mother which brought tears to her eyes. On returning home that day, she bought a bouquet of flowers and gave it to her mother and cried saying that mother “forgive me,” I have hurt your heart many a times. Mother and daughter were reconciled. The wave of reconciliation made the mother aware of her enmity with her neighbour’s. She wrote a letter asking for forgiveness and sent it with her daughter. Unimaginable! number of people came and rejoiced with that Mother. The love of Christ permeated the entire street. Through it all felt the love of the Lord. Due to the change in the mind, the physical weakness got rid of her and she got well. See how great the comparison is.
We know of the Old Testament Joseph in scripture. Joseph's brothers did many evil things against him. But even though Joseph became the ruler of the country, he was seen as having no desire to avenge his brothers, bitterness, or any kind of malice. Joseph had a good forgiving and accepting nature.
Beloved! Saint Besilia says, "Reconciliation is tantamount to tasting the great joy of heaven"! If we forgive others we can taste it in this world. So let us reconcile to all and show love with the mind of Christ and obtain divine peace. As Jesus humbled himself in death (Philippians 2:8), let us humble ourselves, forgive others, and receive the benefit of reconciliation.
