The one who is near

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him to all who call upon Him in truth.” - Psalms 145:18

James was a young man. Being an orphan there was no one to love him and take care of him. Every afternoon during lunch break, he would go to a nearby church and just would say to the Lord, “Jesus! James has come to you.” Then he would leave the church. But he offered the shortest prayer faithfully and whole heartedly. One day, while going to his work place in the morning, he met with an accident. He was hurt in his leg badly and was taken and admitted to the government hospital. There in the hospital, his lunch was kept on a small table beside him. That was the regular time of his visit to church. His mind and heart had flown to church. He said earnestly, “I had been to church at this time daily but today I could not go to meet Jesus.” Suddenly his room was filled with a bright light. A voice came from the light and called James and said, “I am Jesus Christ; I have come to meet you.” James was exceedingly delighted to hear the voice. No sooner did he hear the loving voice than he was healed completely. His visionary eye was opened. 

In the book of 1Samuel, we read the story of Samuel. Samuel was still just a boy, but he was taken to the tabernacle and given to Eli the priest to learn to serve God. So, he ministered before the Lord in the temple. Samuel grew in stature and in favor both with the Lord and men. So, one night the Lord came and stood and called “Samuel, Samuel.” He was called by his name by the Lord. Yes, our Lord searches for the people who seek Him faithfully.

We need not go in search of Jesus Christ. He is near us. He calls us by our names. He is beside us. He is so close to those who love him genuinely. When we are left alone without any support, if we call upon Him sincerely, He will hear our voice and He will come to help and deliver us under any circumstances. Shall we call upon Him today? He will certainly answer our calling without fail.
