Abraham’s obedience

 

"…Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee" - Genesis 12:1

 

When Amycarmichael's was a child, her irises were black, unlike the blue coloured eyes of the people of that country. Amy would often ask her mother why I have black eyes. Amy's mother replied that you should pray to Jesus. After praying, she looked in the mirror the next morning and her eyes were unchanged. She told this to her mother, her response was quite surprising. Amy the Lord made you different from our people for a purpose. That the Lord who created you differently will use you differently. Amy came to India obeying the Lord's voice. He adopted little girls in Donavoor area of Tirunelveli and taught them. She also carried out many social reforms. The school started by her has provided good education to the children of many missionaries and is still producing many good people in the society.

 

In the scriptures we know Abraham, the father of faith. When the Lord called Abraham, he said, "Leave your country, your people, and your father's house and go to the land that I will show you" (Genesis 12:1). Because Abraham obeyed, God made him a rich man and blessed his descendants.

 

Children of God, He will use us today when we surrender ourselves to God. When Abraham was called, Abraham only had the From address. He did not even know his To address, where he was going. Abraham became the father of faith because he obeyed. If God has called you to ministry as you are reading this, have you obeyed His voice? Will you immediately obey His voice and come forward today to wipe away the tears of the Lord who is weeping for the whole world?
