"Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away…" - 2 Tim. 3:5

 

One night a man was driving with his wife and his deaf mother. Without his knowledge, the traffic police followed the vehicle for several kilometres.

 

At one point they overtook the vehicle and stopped it. He stopped the vehicle with fear. He was relieved when the traffic police officers got out of the vehicle and congratulated him. What the officer told him next gave him an pleasant shock.

 

This is what the officials said, "We are following your vehicle from a long distance. You have been driving by following the traffic rules. Since this week is the road safety week, we are appreciating and giving ten thousand rupees as a gift to those who follow the road rules. Here, takes the check for that amount." The officials who gave the gift were shocked, when they heard the words spoken by the brother who happily received the check. "I am happy to get this money. I will get my license with this money." 

 

It was then that his wife who woke up from her sleep and saw that the vehicle had stopped and the police were interrogating her husband. She said in a sleepy voice, "Sir, I have told him many times that you should not drink and drive. He never listens." His deaf mother, who didn't understand the conversation, said, "I told him then that he shouldn't drive a stolen car. Now he's stuck." Hearing this, the police were over shocked.

 

Dear people! This is how many people today appear to be outwardly spiritual. If we look a little closer, their witness less lives will shock us. Jesus Christ rebuked those who live like this and said that they are like whitewashed tombs. They look decorative on the outside. The inside is filled with the bones of the dead and all the filth. Let us think if our life is like this. Let us think whether we have put on the garb of godliness, or whether I am living a life without mysticism.
