All is good

 

"…we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him" - Romans 8:28 

 

We cannot forget Mrs. Amy Carmichael, who served as the mother of the Dohnavur Home and supported many orphaned children. Do you know what was her worry when she was young child? Amy's eyes were black, while most people in her country had blue eyes. That's was her worry. So, one day before going to bed at night she knelt beside her bed praying very earnestly, "Jesus! Please turn my eyes blue when I wake up in the morning." When she woke up in the morning, she quickly went to the mirror and looked at herself wide-eyed. The iris was observed to be black without any changes. "So, Jesus didn't hear my prayer?" Her heart asked herself, little eyes teared up. 

 

Many years had passed. The Lord called Amy to ministry. She too surrendered herself and waited for God's direction to show her where to go, the Lord showed her India. She obeyed the word of God and came to India and started her ministry in Dohnavur in our Tamil Nadu. It was then that she realized that her iris was black like Indian eyes. Amy understood that it was God's will for me to be with the Indians. Even though it was difficult in her childhood, she praised God knowing that God had gave her a black iris for good. Today we are also crying, let this suffereing be taken away from me. We live with many questions saying, “why does God allow these problems only in my life?” But we know what we have to do? We should sit at the feet of God and dedicate ourself to do God’s will. In the scripture we read today, the disciples see a man who was born blind and ask who is responsible for his condition. Jesus Christ said, "This is not a crime committed by him, nor a crime committed by his parents, I have allowed this in his life so that my work can be revealed." Yes, even before we are born, God has marked what we are going to do. That is why he allows everything in our life. He will lead many people into His kingdom by us, if we dedicate ourselves to be useful to Him. Amen!
