I will glorify you

 

"…for I will make you a name and a praise among all people of the earth,…" - Zephaniah 3:20

 

In the 16th century, King Philip II ordered to punish severly, those who read the scriptures. Authorities searched the home of a city mayor and found a Bible in his home. They asked who read it. No one agreed. One servant maid said, “I read the Bible, that is my scripture”. The mayor wished to save her, so he said, “she is illiterate”. But the maid said that I can read it and read it. They suffocated her to death by cramming her into a brick compound. She achieved the fame as a woman who sacrificed her life for the sake of scriptures.

 

In the scriptures we read many fames and praises from the Lord. Mordecai's fame spread far and wide. Yes, he became great because he was true and upright and did his work justly and fairly. (Esther 9:4) His fame spread to 127 countries. Likewise, God announced the glory of Joshua who worked for Moses. God made Joshua perform miracles and wonders and spread his fame. He lead the 20 million Israelites after Moses. God also spread Solomon's fame. God gave untold wealth and wisdom to Solomon who asked for wisdom. Queens from neighboring countries came and were in awe of his wisdom. His fame spread far and wide.

 

In the 19th century, Napoleon, the world-famous emperor’s fame spread all over the world. But today that fame has faded. But the Lord God makes his children eternally glorious. Father! Grace us that your glory may be revealed through us. Amen!
