Glory of the Cross

 

"May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ..." - Gal. 6:14

 

A senior pastor who was serving the Lord faithfully and wholeheartedly was asked a question. Hundreds of your songs are played on the nook and corners even today. You have gained a prominent position among Tamil Christians. Even if you have gone to the peak of fame, if we say your name, everyone certifies as "humble", What's the secret behind the fact? They asked. The pastor replied, "What do I have to boast about? Nothing, I can't boast about my voice either, because when I wanted to join the choir, I was criticized for having the voice of a donkey. So, everything I have belongs to the Lord, I have nothing."

     

The apostle Paul says that he glorifies the cross only. All the wealth, status and pride of this world are dust and rubbish before the cross. "I count all things loss and rubbish for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ," he writes in his epistles. Who is Paul? A great scholar. He has many qualities to boast about. But when he saw the cross and Jesus Christ hanging on it, all the greatness become trash.

 

Great guys! Do we think highly of ourselves? Have our beauty, luxury, education and title, wealth and influence not left our minds? So, one thing is true, we have not know the glory of the cross! There is nothing to admire in anyone who renounces all his worldly superiority and feels the sacrifice of Christ, who hanged himself to be a shame. Let us beseech to possess such a mind of Christ.

 

          Accumulated wealth, highly influential, higher education, wahatever I have

          All the pride that belongs to me is nothing before the cross

          Oddly, Christ the king and the cross is my glory.
