Before proclaming. . .

 

"Those who sow with tears will reap with songs of joy" – Palms 126:5

 

Billisande, a pious man, often mentioned the following incident in his sermons. There was an unbelieving blacksmith. He challenged, "Christians cannot talk to me about Christianity, because I will argue with them and shut them up." Knowing this, an elderly person from the local congregation, started praying for him together with his wife with burden, that Jesus must meet this man anyway.

 

One day the elder met the man and said, "Friend, my wife and I have been praying for you" and while he was speaking the elder's eyes filled with tears. He could not say anything more than that. He returned to his home. When he said this incident to his wife, she said, "The Lord will create a change in him by your tears." As she said, this elder's words and tearful eyes moved the blacksmith's heart. Again and again the appearance of the elder appeared before his eyes, and the blacksmith went to elder’s house and told him of the change that had taken place, and prostrated himself before him on his knees. He became a child of God that day.

 

We also wish to proclaim about the Lord to the people around us. We are searching for an opportunity. At the same time, if we fail to pray for that soul with a burdened heart and tears, there will be no change in their life. All our other efforts will be futile. Because it is the Holy Spirit who convicts a sinner of his sins. So, we must pray with tears that the Holy Spirit to create a change in their heart through the gospel we preach.

 

Paul prayed with tears for the churches and for the salvation of the individual. We should also pray earnestly for the person whom we wish to evangelize. There is no doubt that God will surely provide opportunities and turn his heart to the gospel.
