Which is honor?

 

"…crowned him with glory and honor" - Psalm 8:5

 

Today, let us think about what can give a man honor or real status. In this society we live in, we value the dress wore, the house that one lives in instead of their character. The salary one earns, the car one owns is considered as one's honor. But the truth is that a man's good deeds and inner nature are real honor.

 

Regarding this, family counsellor Milo Arnold says, "Many parents ruin their children's future without realizing it. Parents force their children to wear clothes costlier than other children for the sake of society. The satus of the parents is more important than the comfort of the children. A child brought up this way can be affected in two ways. One is that they care too much about clothes as they grow up. Secondly, they become addicted to dress well so that he can impress others. If no one notices or appreciates them they become depressed. If it’s a girl, then she will spend her whole life focusing on clothes and waste money, eventually making her husband poor. So, what should parents do? "Give them clean and comfortable clothes. Make them feel that they are more important than the clothes they wear," he said.

 

Dear reader! Where do you find your honor? Are you exalted in the eyes of others because of your virtues? Or do you want to be considered superior because of your dress and possessions? Good character will always hold your status. Otherwise, your condition is dangerous of lossing you status. As appearances change and amenities diminish, you risk feeling overwhelmed and isolated. Where do you find your honor?
