Ask and it will be given 

 

"...So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you" - Luke 11:9

 

What a wonderful and sure promise God has given us. He has clearly written down how we should ask God with three types of assurance. God who created the whole world has given us this promise. He is unwavering. Humans may forget their promise to us. But our Jesus Christ is unchanging.

 

First: Ask and it will be given to you. When we are small children, our mother feeds us at the right time without us asking. Similarly, the Lord continues to give many blessings without us asking. But after growing up, the mother gives food only when we ask, similarly the Lord expects us to ask the Lord for our needs.

 

Second: Seek and ye shall find. Once I was going to a special event in a bus wearing a new earring. Somehow a piece got loose and fell on the bus itself. Before landing, I found that there was no ear ring and immediately searched for it. Fortunately, it was found inside the bus. I was filled with joy when I found it again. If I had left the lost place and search outside the bus, I would haven’t found it. In the same way, we will get the lost happiness and God's presence when we search for it at the right time and in the right place without delay.

 

Third: Knock and it will be opened to you. When I needed some money for my daughter's college education, I prayed to the Lord and knocked on her door depending on him alone. He met our need by providing money from an unexpected place. Even though Joseph trusted in the Lord in the Bible, he waited for the chief cupbearer to help him out of prison. But the cupbearer forgot Joseph. God redeemed Joseph at the right time and made him the ruler of Egypt. So let's look to the Lord instead of trusting in men. Because let's believe that God's door is always open to the one who knocks and receive the blessing! Amen!
