Lizard can ..Why not we?

 

"…Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself…" - Matthew 19:19

 

This is a true story that happened in Japan. A man renovated his house by destroying a wooden wall. Most houses in Japan are built of wood. It was built with a gap between two logs. While he was breaking the wood wall he noticed a lizard trapped between two logs. He looked around the lizard then he noticed how it was stuck, the nail had landed on the lizard's leg when nailing the wood. He was surprised because the nail must have been hit at least 3 years before. How could this lizard be alive for 3 years!.. He decided to find the survival by monitoring the lizard without continuing his work.

 

After some time while he was monitoring another lizard coming near it. He saw the lizard taking food from its mouth and feeding the lizard stuck in the wall. He was blown away. For 3 years this lizard has been feeding its fellow lizard which was trapped in the wall. He was amazed to find that a lizard had been feeding a creature of its own species for 3 years without any expectation.

 

Even today, there are many people who are stuck in poverty and don't know how to solve their problems! Why even our relatives! We are aware of their situation and do not come forward to help them. In the Bible its written “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.”   

 

If a lizard can do it, why can't we? "Love others as you love yourself," the Bible advises us. Let us obey the verse and live as witnesses.
