Carpenter

 

"…so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others" - Romans 12:5

 

It is a carpentry shop where funitures and wooden articles are made. The carpenter went out for some work. As soon as he left the shop, there was a question among all the equipment out there. Who is the greatest among all? They began to criticize each other. All others said to the hammer, "You make too much noise. You shouldn't be here." The hammer said, "The chisel must be driven away. He cuts sharply." Chisel scolded Tape angrily. "He has always measured everyone to be like this, to be like this," he said. Tape replied, "Screwdriver is the one who should be removed from our union. He keeps screwing others." Finally, everyone was looking at the plane and complaining to each other, "You only do superficial work. You don't do any hard work." All of a sudden, hearing the carpenter's voice, everything became quiet. The carpenter came. He carved a piece of wood beautifully with hammer and chisel. He took the scale and checked. He made an elegant cross using screwdriver and plane. Then he agreed to die on that cross.

 

Who is this carpenter? Lord Jesus Christ. It is important to remember the above parable often in our lives. What does this means? That each of us united in Christ has a strength. There are a few downsides. It is not necessary for everyone to be like everyone else. Don't expect that.

 

Everyone is different in the workplace, or perhaps in the community where we serve. Remember that it is God who brings such people together. It is wrong to expect others to do the work like me. God has put together the various kind of people needed to do a task. In The Bible, the church is compared to the body of Christ. Let's keep this in mind. Let's change narrow attitudes. May we always have a open heart and mind filled with love.
