The Lord who transforms darkness
"You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.” - Psalm 18:28
John Bunyan, born in England, was unable to afford for his education due to poverty and worked as a utensil seller. He grew up with bad habits at his youth. He lied, cheated others and disrespected elders. He married a Christian girl at the age of 19. She often spoke
to John about Christ. One day John began to read the Bible. The darkness of his life began to change. After some days while he fell ill, he read Martin Luther's book and surrendered himself to Christ.
Those days, there was a law in England that only pastors should preach the gospel. Knowing this, John Bunyan believed that it is better to obey God than to obey men. He went everywhere and preached the gospel. He was punished, by being prisoned for this. He preached the gospel even in prison. He wrote his magnum opus “The Pilgrim's Progress” while in jail. He was released at the age of 43. He preached the Gospel till 59 years old. At the moment he accepted Christ in his heart, darkness of his sin was cleansed. He began to give light to the world.
Yes, dear ones! When we follow the light that is Christ, the darkness in us will be removed and we will hold fast to the Lord. If we move toward the light in a lit area, our shadow will follow us. If we move away from the light, the shadow will come before us. In the same way, if we turn to the light that is Christ, the darkness of sin in us will be removed. Even in the Bible in the book of John 8:12 Jesus said, "I am the light of the world; he who follows me will not walk in darkness and will have the light of life." Matthew 5:16 says that if we begin to shine, the Father will be glorified. Our light will renew the life of others. Amen.
