The Greatness of forgiveness

 

" Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you…" - Ephesians 4:32

 

A teacher used a tactic to teach her students to be forgiving. All the students were asked to bring a sack of potatoes and a visible plastic bag. Teacher said “Whoever can’t forgive your friends mistake, write the friend names on a potato and put them in a plastic bag. Eventually, the potato in the sack began to decrease and the plastic bag began to fill up. In this case, the teacher told his students that whenever you forgive one that named potato, can be throw away. Otherwise, wherever you go, you will have to carry all the potatoes with names written on them. The unforgiving student's burden did not ease, and after a few days it began to rot and smell. And those who come near them started hating the student because of bad smell.

 

We read in the Bible Genesis chapter 34 - when Jacob's daughter Dinah was defiled by Shechem, Simeon, Jacob's son and Dinah's brother, did not want to forgive even after Levi gave his sister in marriage, and killed Shechem and the townspeople despite his father's words, so Jacob kept his family in mind and feared for the country.

 

Beloved, if we don't forgive someone it will keep on stressing us and put us in a situation where we can feel uneasy. That would become a huge burden for us and we would automatically become a person hated by everyone. Just as Graham Staines's wife forgave those, who burned her husband and her two sons with a jeep, we also should forgive our brothers and sisters who live with us in this world as God has forgiven us in Christ, and if we continue to bless them and forgive them, surely that soul will accept Jesus as their personal savior, and they too will see Jesus living in you. And they will glorify Jesus. The nation will return to Jesus. Amen! Alleluia!
