Fingers that wrote on the wall

 

“In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace...” - Daniel 5:5

 

In today's Bible portion, when the king Belshazzar saw fingers writing on the wall, he was worried. His legs started shaking. More than a thousand were present in that feast. It wrote before everyone's eyes. Wise Men, astrologers and soothsayers were summoned as usual. But nobody can read those letters and give interpretation. 

 

Daniel was summoned. He explained why it was written and the meaning of it. These writings can also be said as an sms sent by God. It had only 4 words " Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin". Why was Mene, Mene written 2 times? Firstly he knew all these and didn't humble his heart and exalted himself against the Heavenly God. Secondly he didn't give the respect and glory to the Lord and used the things from the church in vain. He fell short when he was weighed. 

 

Yea, the same God weighs you and me. He weighs our thoughts, deeds and intentions. Pride is always against God. Let us examine ourselves if we are proud. Let us check whether we have received "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin" as sms. Let us humble ourselves before God. Then he will lift us up.
