Comparison 

 

“Take what belongs to you and go...” - Matthew 20:14 

 

I was reading Matthew 20 on a fine morning. I started thinking about the master mentioned in this parable. Why didn't this master pay wage like others? I thought why he pays equally to those worked longer and shorter. Thats when I realised that comparison is not good. Kumar studied well and passed with good marks in govt exam. He was swimming in sea of joy. But he was sad without any trace of happiness he had the previous day. Do you know why? because he learnt that his friend Ravi scored 5 marks more than him. Comparison is the foremost enemy of happiness. We should be happy with what we have accomplished. 

 

We have to run on the path God has for us. If we compare other's accomplishments with ours, happiness will vanish away. Some people despite reaching great heights, compare their achievements with other's and fail to enjoy their accomplishments. We have to thank God for the good talents he has given. If we start to notice the talents and good situations of others, we will lack happiness even if we have everything. Let us run on the path God has for us. God will definitely give goodness in our life. We shouldn't compare and shorten the boundaries of blessings.  

 

Once a mother prayed for her younger son like this " It is enough for me if my younger son also studied medicine like my elder son." God asked "who are you to mark the boundaries of your younger son?" He also said," the glory of the later temple will be greater than the previous one". What is a temple? you are such temple. From that day, she was careful in praying for her children. So parents! don't hinder our children's growth by comparing it with others. Stand firm in the will of God.
