True asset

 

“The great streets of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.” - Revelation 21:21

 

This is a story about a miner who excavated gold, made them to gold bars and carried wherever he went on his shoulder bag. One day he died and went to heaven. He still carried the gold bars. He didn't leave it behind. An angel showed him around heaven and asked him, what are you carrying in your shoulder bag? You are carrying it everywhere. This miner showed inside the bag and said, this is a costly gold. I excavated all these gold myself. I might miss this if I keep it somewhere so I am carrying it with me. The angel laughed and said " these are blocks used to make roads, it's madness for you to carry it with you. If you carry a roadside rock in your bag wherever you go, wouldn't others laugh at you?" I feel the same about this. He said, " these are not blocks to make roads but gold". The angel said, this is gold on earth but we will use this to make roads in heaven. 

 

This is a funny story. But it reminds us that whatever we consider precious on this earth is useless in heaven isn't it? We consider gold as a valuable metal. We keep it in our valuable belongings. In heaven we are going to walk on it. How opposite is it?

 

Our net worth, our assets, power, bank accounts, name, fame are not taken into consideration in Heaven. What value do these hold when the time for us to say good bye to this world? All our belongings in this world are temporary, let us keep it in mind. Our true assets are in heaven.
