Doing Good

 

“To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:” - Romans 2:7

 

A tailor was stitching dresses in his shop. His son was sitting near him and observing him doing work. Tailor took a new cloth. He cut the cloth into pieces with his beautiful shiny scissor. Then he dropped the scissor near his foot and started stitching. He took the needle and shoved it on his hat once he finished stitching. 

 

His son saw this and said, “ Dad, scissors are beautiful and costly. You dropped it carelessly near your foot. But the needle is tiny and cheap. Why do you keep it on your head? Why is that?” He wanted his eager son to learn a lesson from this and it should be inscribed on his heart. If a needle is kept here and there, it will be hard to find and loss may be the first reason. But the answer he said was inscribed on his heart like a nail nailed on a live tree. 

 

“Son, Scissor might be beautiful and expensive, but it is used to cut, that is to separate! But the needle being tiny and cheap, it is used to unite. A person’s value is determined by their act and not by appearance.”  

 

Yea, my dear! What kind of fruits do we have? We see that a good tree yields good fruit. In the same way let us wear the nine spiritual fruits.(Galatians 5:22-23)

If we look at Paul in the Bible, when he became Paul from a hardened Paul, he bore great many fruits. He offered himself completely to God. Whatever he done after that was wonderful. His fruits include uniting the separated (Philemon, Onesimus), preaching the gospel even when he was in prison, advising the church and so on.

 

What situation are we in. Are we doing good to others? Or are we repaying bad with bad? Let us think. Let us yield good fruits like Christ and Paul in our troubles. Let us preach the love of Christ everywhere. Amen.
