Daily Devotion (English) – 08.04.2023

 

“...when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost” - Luke 23:46

 

Seventh verse Jesus said on the cross. 

When a person is in his final moments, his family members will be waiting near his bed to hear his final words. His final words will be counted as most important. When Jesus was crucified, He spoke 7 Verses, "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit" is the seventh verse. We can see Him praying by beginning His first word as Father and ends it by saying Father. 

 

The only reason for Jesus Christ to be sent by the Father is to sacrifice Himself for the sins of humanity! He became man and lived thirty three and half years in this world tolerating the sufferings, struggles, trials, pain without any rest to finish the responsibilities Father gave Him and thus completed a successful and a fulfilled life. 

 

How long was He alive in this world is not important; but how He lived. Let us imagine, is our life glorifying God, finished the responsibility in due time and a life based on the will of God. 

 

We can read in the Bible that "My meat is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish his work." Like a hungry man waiting for food to be served, Jesus was waiting to fulfil the will of God. 

 

Before beginning the Olympic games, Olympic torch will be lit and carried by a person for a short distance, then it will be passed on to next person then to next person and so on and the person passed it on will also run with and the final torch bearer will light the Olympic cauldron. Like this Jesus finished the work Father gave Him and Jesus gave it to us. Let us finish the work and light the cauldron. Let us finish the will of God till our end and finish our journey happily in God.
