God’s desire
“Jesus said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread that these may eat?” – John 6:5
The economic impact of 2020 coronavirus pandemic in India cannot be described in words. It has put pressure on our finances. The government collected funds to support the most affected. Two little kids of Madhya Pradesh realized the need of the country. Though they were from a backward village with no proper facilities, they gave the amount saved by them in the piggy banks to the police officer without counting their savings. Then it was handed safely to the central government. District officials, police officers and common people were all praise for them.
Our Lord Jesus Christ is all powerful. But He is asking “Where shall we buy bread that these may eat?” This incident is described in the 6th chapter of the gospel of John. It depicts the heart of Jesus and His desire. The boy whose name was not provided, observed His longing and without any second thought offered five barley loaves and two fishes. Jesus took the loaves and gave thanks and distributed them to the disciples and they served the great multitude. Five thousand people were fed. To honor the little boy Jesus told His disciples to gather up the fragments that remained so that nothing was lost. They filled twelve baskets with the left over.
Dear friends in Christ, we should not be under the impression that God aspires nothing from us. Our Lord God is pitying the people who cannot discern between their right hand and their left. God grieves to look at the people who are created by Him, running after molded Gods without acknowledging the creator, the only living God. His desire is to redeem the entire world and make them fit to stand before God and to enter the kingdom of heaven. To fulfill His longing, like little children, shall we offer our talents, ability, knowledge, wealth and above all ourselves to God? God wishes to bless the world through us. Understanding His desire, like innocent children let us submit ourselves to God and fulfill His needs.
