Two coins

 

“for they all put in out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all that she had, her whole livelihood.” - Mark 12:44

 

It is good to give to God. God taught us to do so. He created earth and everything within and happily handed it over to man to rule over it. He is happy to see the offering we offer from it. 

 

Today our devotion is about an elderly poor widow. These people were supported by the church at that time. This widow also made her living from the allowance provided by the church. In this situation Jesus noticed her offerings. She offered 2 coins it was very little at that time but she was very happy to give. She gave everything she had to God. Because she had complete faith in God. She had experienced God gracefully giving her daily needs. 

 

Jesus didn't see how much she gave. He saw her heart. Jesus noticed lot of rich people offered lot more than her. They all gave from their riches. But Jesus said, she gave what she kept for her life. She wanted to support the church supporting her. Such a selfless act isn't it? She was an example for, we can glorify God with the little we have in us. 

 

My dear! It is not wrong if the widow thought, this is mine, this will help me with my life, i need for my life. But she didn't keep anything for her, didn't think about tomorrow and gave selflessly. That little offering was huge in the eyes of the Lord. He will not abandon those who gave for Him. He will never let them to go into poverty. If that poor widow gave everything for God we can give what we can, can't we! I know a woman. She was eager to give for God. She has to give without her husband's knowledge. She will offer the money her husband gave her for treatment and she will go to government hospitals. This is what she can.
