Daily Devotion (English) – 30.12.2022 (Christmas Special)

 

With a thankful satisfaction

 

“Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me bless his holy name.” - Psalms 103: 1

 

Jonathan was a journalist in a journal in USA. Once he wrote an article for his readers "9 ways to invest in happiness ". One point is "Count your blessings". This was based on John Oatman's hymn "count your blessings". This point is important for us since we are waiting for a new year. If we have a thankful and satisfied heart, we can live happily. If we count the blessings we received from God, we will be amazed and it will cast away our tiredness isn't it? So let us allot these last days of this year to Thank God. Let our hearts be filled with thankfulness. 

 

God chose David, a humble shepherd and lifted him to be the ruler of the whole of Israel. This David's heart was thankful before God throughout his life. He says about this as "Who am I, O Lord God? And what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?" and he praised God with a heart filled with glory. He in his psalms laments and complains about his problems but he completes the psalms praise God. We could have come across many problems and sufferings. Let us end this year by thanking God for the peace and happiness He gave among the problems and sufferings. 

 

My dear beloved in God! We have lot of things to give thanks to God. For delivering us from slavery of sin, for saving our eyes from tears, our feet from falling, our soul from death and from many accidents! let us give thanks for all that. Let us praise Him for He gave a heart to live peacefully amidst all the uncomfortable situations and he was the light for our soul. Like this there will be many. Yea, "Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift." Amen.
