Daily Devotion (English) – 22.12.2022 (Christmas Special)

 

A meaningful Christmas among gentiles 

 

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father in heaven” - Matthew 5:16

 

I read about a funny story about Christmas written by a pastor. An angel went near a man praying alter in a church to listen to his prayers. He prayed "Lord, I need a chicken to cook for Christmas. There are lot of chicken in our pastor’s house. He preaches us to give our dress to others if we have two but he won’t give me a chicken. So let me steal a chicken from him". This angel was shocked and went to a man crying near a graveyard. He prayed "My friend, we spent last Christmas by drinking together, but you are here to celebrate this Christmas. I offer this bottle of alcohol to you" and kept the bottle on his grave. This angel was speechless and went to a house; it was shining brightly with decorations and lights. The owner of the house chased away a little boy who was looking at the decorations. This angel went back sadly to heaven after seeing the Christmas celebrations. 

 

Today's Bible portion tells us to glorify God by looking at our good works. 1 Peter 2:12 says "Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation." So don't celebrate Christmas in a way that the name of our God is cursed by others. Lot of Christians celebrates Christmas with alcohol. What a pity!

 

My dear! Share the gospel to the poor gentiles by giving them food and dress. Invite your non believer friends for a meal and share the gospel. Give out the tracts about Christ to whomever possible. Share the gospel and cheer up by speaking hopeful words to people of other faith suffering from sadness, sickness and loneliness. Let our lights shine brighter than the light our decoration light emits. Name of our Lord will be glorified! Heaven will rejoice.
